Wiring Questions for stereo and other simple installs

hi, i know this is prolly a stupid question, but how important is soddering wires that you have say when your installing an aftermarket stereo? could i just tie them together or is it best to sodder 'em good. i have used sodder before i just got lazy with my stereo and now it acts up and im wondering if poor performance might be b/c of no soddering...anyways thanks

solder and heat shrink is bast, but you can use butt connectors, they work well and you just crimp them!
