Wire for illumination/dimming?

Hey all,

Does anyone know what wire I could use for the illumination/dimming on my headunit and gauges?

The one that goes into the standard harness is the dash lighting dimmer which is useless as I need an on/off for when the lights are on/off?

Any help much appreciated!

my gauges dim with the dash lighting. and when the lights are off the dash lights should be off anyway shuldnt they.

Yes just wire the guages into the stock gauges/dimmer on the dash.

To dim your stereo head unit you'll have to get one with that feature built into it.

My gauges don't do that, nor does the headunit. In fact the headunit explicitly states not to wire it up to dimmer circuits. The Defi gauges are the same.

I'll go check the service manual and find a wire.
