what makes this hood so special compared to the others selling for around 500-1000?

 

it vents out alot of hte heat from hte engine bay, becuase as you should know the engine runs really hot.

 

That the original is over $2000.

 

but its still a replica. vis also make a replica and its only around $500 on ebay.

anybody have the rextreme scoot carbon hood? hows the fit compared to the competition?

 

You will not regret buying one from Rotary Extreme. I have heard, on numerous occasions, that Chuck's stuff fits better than the originals.

Go ahead and buy one off of eBay. It won't fit. It won't have the rain guards. Usually in this community, you get what you pay for.

 

I had a VIS KS CF Hood and it fit great....I now have a Rotary Extreme CF Scoot and it fits good as well....but it doesn't fit perfect, but it costs 3 times as much.

 

Chuck actually fixed imperfections in the original hood he got before making the mold. Whether you get it from Chuck at RE or from VIS, you will end up paying the money. The money you save with VIS, you'll pay to your bodyshop guy to fix it up.

 

I agree - also his customer service will far exceed others. I've bought parts from Chuck that couldn't have fit better if he took the molds off my car.

 

I could be wrong, but the design of that hood looks like it requires quite a bit of post mold work to achieve the finished product which would be more then lets say a hood that you just pop out of a mold and be done with.

You cant make a hood like that in one shot, thats probably 3-4 different molds at least.

 

Vis makes great quality products for all types of vehicles. They are raved in all other automotive communitys. In the past they made junk, but back then everyone did.

I don't know Chuck, i haven't worked with him *YET* but my guess to the price is that he was, i beleive, the first to make a replica of that hood. Plus he isn't as large as VIS the investment he made wouldn't be as easy to make back.

Its best to buy from someone like chuck who helps out the rx7 community specifically. That will help him bring more products in the future. But you really couldn't tell the diffrence, both come with rain guards as well.

Vis products are manufactured in China. Chuck's are made here in the good old US of A. That is why what makes the difference in price.

 

Chuck's hood is an exact replica of the Scoot hood meaning all of the vents including the center vent that channels air to the ABS and master cylinder are funtional, if I'm not mistaken the VIS hood does not have the center vent tunnel.

 

BTW this is not true.

 

because he was the first company to make a replica of the scoot hood. now every ricer body kit company makes that hood. they make the scoot hood for a bunch of different cars now, the design was good when it was an fd thing stolen from porsche. now its stupid and played out.

 

My roomate has the RE Scoot hood from Chuck.......it fits damn near perfect.
