If it was an option, it may still be available. Just call Ray at Malloy. He'll know.

Mine RX-7 emblems on the sills are chrome. That could be the difference between the SS and aluminum ones. Don't expect those sills to look good forever. Mine are now painted black (except for the RX-7 emblem) due to wear.

I believe Apneablue posted in a thread a while back explaining how he had removed the lettering, glued them to a board, and polished the crap out of them.....

Either way, they look TONS better than the '93 plastics. I can't believe that I actually favored one particular FD over another back when I was shopping around for mine because of the door sills

Mine are aluminum as well. I got em used for about $30US, but they were in pretty bad shape. I just polished the hell out of em, and painted the gold lettering gunmetal. So now I have polished sills with gunmetal RX7 emblem.

Yep, they are. The original owner had them added when he purchased the car so they've been around.

Cool. Why would Mazda fabricate both Aluminum and S/S sills?? Maybe they're specific to different year models??

BTW, thanks for all your help and advise in the past. Don't think my engine would have lasted this long without the guidance this Forum bestows.

Yes, pulled them off and polished them....Much nice looking than the gold....unless you already have gold accents somewhere else. Be careful when you pull them off...try not to flex them too much, they break easily...I broke on of them but it seemed back together well.

The S/S Sills along with other goodies from Malloy just came in. They were delivered with all the hardware necessary for the install. Here's a photo of them.....

If Malloy is out of stock, just place an order for them befopre it's too late. According to Ray, Mazda will stop producing them this year! The OEM sills are S/S, not aluminum.

So where can you get these?

Anyone know of a chrome/titanium/gunmetal gear shifter for an Rx&?

Mine is totally worn so that you cannot read where the gears are anymore (not that I have to but still :P)

Aluminum is a "softer" metal so it will probably be more susceptible to scratches/wear than S/S. But because of the location of the sills, even the S/S sills will develope some wear/scratches sooner or later.

I have a set at home that I haven't installed yet. Do I put them OVER the plastic ones? Or do I remove the plastic piece first?
That's up to you. Do you want to use a hammer to install them?

I have them. The only thing I don't like are the indefensible round head screws they used instead of flush flat head ones.
