so ideal place to mount the tweeter would be low on the a pillar? Then have the tweeters positioned to the opposite place where a person would be sitting? For example, passenger a pillar firing towards driver, driver a pillar firing towards passenger. This hopefully would give you good timing and imaging.

Sound is like taste. You can go have a nice steak and swear it's the bestest most wonderfullest steak you've ever had. You'll tell all your friends you just ate the best steak in the world; nothing can top it. Then one day you'll have a steak that's even better and change your mind. You can only relate to the experiences you've had; you literally can't comprehend or imagine "better" until you've experienced it. I could insist all day long I know of a better steak and try to describe to you what makes it taste better but until you've tried it yourself you don't understand.

To continue with the steak analogy if you tell me you like your steak prepared "well done" I'll tell you that you have absolutely no idea how to appreciate steak. You may as well eat hamburgers and save your money There's nothing wrong with you liking hamburgers more than steak but if you feel that way don't try to impress your friends by ordering steak when you go out. Have what you like and don't feel the need to apologize for any of it.

Then either the tweeters and/or crossover suck or the level was merely too loud compared to the midrange and needed to be padded down. Don't be fooled into thinking that spending hundreds of dollars on what people insist are top notch components automatically ensures stuff like this doesn't happen.

You look at $500 component systems with supposedly super duper crossovers in them and the things have about $15 worth of parts inside a clear, fancy plastic box. That's no exageration. It's practically bred into electronics consumers that if it isn't expensive it must suck. Company's realize this and happily take advantage of you.

My components up front are 5.25" Vifa midranges with cast magnesium baskets and matching Vifa 1" silk dome tweeters. I've got less than $200 in the four drivers and their xovers and I even bought expensive xover parts! Put those same items in a fancy box with a fancy name and you'll pay $600+ for them. No lie. I've built home speakers for friends and used less than $100 worth of parts for everything but the wood. They blow away things at 10 times their price all day long. Am I a genius? Heck no. The parts are readily available, you just have to learn what to do with them.

It starts at post 96. This would be the ideal setup, ofcourse next to mounting them on your dash and having the wave bounce off the windsheild. I have listened to both ways and honestly like the way the sail looks and it sounds exactly the same. Heres a pic of the sail that he did, although I think it needs more work you can get a general idea.

Hey bro, are those Dynaudio components in your pic? I had some of those back when i had s-10 blazer. They are good components, but kinda pricey though! I think i paid about $900 for the set of components.

Also have had morel, diamond d7, rainbow, focal, and the monitors whipe the floor with all those. They only made 55 sets so they are imposible to find, but they pop up on ebay every once in a while for super cheap.

personally, i think the best thing to do, is sit and play with the tweeters in different locations. What ever sounds best to you than thats where I would mount them, I thnk sound can be very objective. What might sound awesome to me might sound off to someone else. I put them in the a pillar and the triangles, I personally liked them better on the triangles and thats where their going. Just not quite sure on the angle, have to put them back up and listen to them.

And have your left leg block everything. That just doesn't work for tweeters in an FD.

I like! I've always been amazed at how the soundstage is much better in even low end cheap cars w/ speakers in the dash that face the windshield...

Oh and Damon, I believe ya. I'm sure certain parts are quite simple, but you pay a high premium for the brand. But I also believe that other parts are simply higher quality - not high enough to justify the price, but definitely of different quality. I've seen many a cheap sub simply disintegrate and tear (excessive wear), while other better brands held up and simply produced better sound. Same size, watt rating, amplification, etc. So there's a middle path between it all...finding it takes skill however, which you obviously have. Noobs like me tend to overpay for the secuity of what's known to work and sound good lol.

I would mount in the side mirror sail but there isn't enough room for flush mounting it, and I just think that angle mounted there looks unprofessional and not clean.
