I have a momo hub adaptor now, but I am trying to keep my FD "clean" and as close to stock as possible so rather than killing the airbag light and fabbing up some way to make the horn work I figured I could just get the special hub. I guess for the airbag light I can just dig around back there and pull out the bulb, but how did you get your horn to work with the momo adaptor??

What's the purpose of this hub? Does it have tilt? That would be awesome for me!

The mazdaspeed hub has a built in mechanism to fool the ecu into thinking you still have an airbag so the damn light doesn't flash continously, and beep. It also has a simple connector to hook up the horn whereas if you use a regular hub you have to fab up a way to make the horn work.

Sorry to say but the MS hub adapter is no longer produced. I looked everywhere and have several contacts in Japan as well with zero luck. I then got official word from MS that it is discontinued. The only way to get one now is used.

There is a way that you can use the momo hub adapter and still trick the sensor into thinking the airbag is still contected. There is a green wire clip that sits inside the steering column, cut the wire that goes from that to the airbag sensor but do not disconnect the clip. Your light should remain off. Worked with mine.

Jason at jt-imports.com says he has it - $95 shipped. Is this a reputable supplier or is he pulling my leg?

Jason w/ JT Imports is reputable. I've purchased from him before. No problems. Other members have purchased from him too.

Make sure he actually has it in his hands and that it is the adapter you are looking for. I got several people telling me "sure, we have that" and then a few weeks later "We are sorry but that isn't for sale anymore". Also $95 seems like a very low price.

I was told by Jason that he thought the cost shipped was around $200 but that was a week ago and he could not confirm the price because of a Japanese holiday. I strongly recommend not using the MOMO hub on a 3rd gen if you want to retain your horn or ever want to put the car back to stock. I searched the forum and found a guy that usead the hub adapter for a 90-97 miata from www.miataparts.net and he said it was plug and play. The cost was $119 and I will have mine tuesday. I tried using the MOMO hub and I messed up the tape drive in the process and am paying for it know. As far as the Mazdaspeed wheel I went with a MOMO Jet Wheel because it was easy to get and a Mazdaspeed Horn Button that is on order from www.corksport.com.

I have the Momo hub with a Momo wheel on my car now. I'm just trying to get rid of the airbag light and get the horn functional in a "clean" manner as opposed to cutting wires, pulling bulbs, rigging up a piece of metal to get the horn to work, etc. etc.

RMEGEDDON - do you think you could post a followup in a week or so when you get the Miata hub and let me/us know how it works? If it really does address the airbag and horn issues I'd like to get one too. Thanks!

Forget to ask ... can you elaborate on this? Are you saying that using the MOMO hub has somehow caused you not to be able to put it back to stock? What is the "tape drive" that you messed up? Sorry for the lame questions ... I'm new to this stuff.

Once you remove the wheel there is circular thing with a connector for the airbag and horn that spins around the steering shaft with the ribbon type cable inside it . It has the yellow lable on it and I destroyed it modifying my Momo hub to fit. www.miataparts.net when you go to the steering wheel section and click on the hub there is a file with installation insructions that shows the harness coming out of the center section. I will probably never use the stock wheel again but I want to fix my mistake. I should have the adapter today. Since I damaged the tape thing you have to buy the whole component switch which has the turn signals and lights basically everything in the steering column. It set me back $255 from Mazdaformance and that was 100 cheaper then my local Mazda dealer. Basically I am driven to correct my mistake and am not going to happy with myself until I have properly fixed it. BTW I also bought I shop manuel to try to avoid anymore dumb mistakes.

The "Steering Wheel" mod is only to help the NUT behind the wheel.

With my MOMO wheel it is not physically possible without a aftermarket hub because the wheel attaches to the MOMO hub with allen screws and the hub bolts onto the column. It just won't work any other way. The purpose of the Mazdaspeed hub is that no wires will need be cut or modified in order to get that air bag light off and to have a functional horn. Long story short you can't just pull the stock wheel off and put on a aftermarket wheel without a adapter.

So I guess it doesn't let you raise the wheel up a bit huh? I really wish the stock wheel had a tilt feature

Did you get the hub and install it? Just curious how it went as I'm looking at getting the same one and wondering if it's "plug and play" like I hope it is.
