so the stock system has the 2 units: tape player and cd player.

now its just a cd player. does anyone make just like a plastic box with a lid that would slide in adn could be used for storage??? searched crutchfield with no luck.

Why don't you just pick up the OEM storage bin?

I went with the stock storage bin. It fits, is handy, and is cool - a lid that pops open when you press it in. I lined the inside with leather, so objects wouldn't rattle in there.

New I believe they're about $80. They came on the R1's and base models - they're not too tricky to find used, but they hold value well. They are REALLY nice, too.

I'm told the usual suspects stock them (best buy, tweeter, circuit city). It'd be great to get a stock one but $80 is pretty steep. thanks again

The stock R1/base DIN compartments are VERY nice, but I took mine out in favor of a 3 gauge DIN panel.

look up 1fastT2. He makes a plate that goes in the hole. The plate has holes that will allow a new aftermarket stereo and three motor gauges below it. I can't describe it well but look it up becuase it is sweet and he sells them for 53 bux

When I had my bose system removed and a single DIN deck installed, the car stereo place put a generic single DIN pocket in to fill the gap. The black colour matches perfectly with the surrounding dash, and it's the perfect size for my wallet + phone. Long drives with my wallet in my rear pocket makes my leg go numb.............

I'm not too fussed about not having a lid on it as I take my wallet/phone with me when I leave the car.

I dunno about all this pocket business but if your just tryna fill in the spaces most cheap places, strauss, target, ect sell these kits of different shaped plastic plates to fit around the new stereo and make it look whole again. I think its $14.99, i was looking at them earlier this week for my fc.
