Where can I find a dual exhaust for the FD?
I'm looking for a single exhaust tip on each side of the car, as in two tips in total. Is there a reason they don't make one for the FD? I don't imagine it would be too hard to modify the rear bumper or a body kit to allow for it to work properly. Does anyone know any websites or shops that sell one? Thanks, -Joe
Didn't we already go through this?

Basically it's a custom job. You'll have to find someone to make it.

ok, I was reading the thread that RyanRex posted...I was thinking that any exhaust under the gas tank might be a little dangerous, but other than that, it should be able to be done. Also, I don't think it would be more restrictive if you did it right. Instead of installing a Y-pipe, install a pipe that resembles half a "k"...this way, you have the original straight through and you have some exhaust that can flow to the side. This would be more of an open pipe than the original exhaust. I'm tempted to try this out...

no no, lol - this time I mean just a exhaust on both sides - that message thread I meant both in the middle of the car. But I could seem like I'm losing it

As far as performance goes, I doubt it'll hurt or help anything. It will be mostly for the "look"

It just seems like more unnecessary weight to me.
You know, there ARE reasons why Mazda went from the dual mufflers in the FC over to a single in the FD. Sure, a dual setup DOES look nice.
Personally, unless an engine has 2 seperate exhaust banks like any V or flat engine that allows you to run a true dual exhaust setup, then I think it is a waste of space and weight to go to a dual setup like on an FD. Even RE's car car only has 1 muffler in the stock location.
Look at all the time and energy that was spent on making the Supra overengineered. Even there, they didn't decide to go with a dual exhaust setup.

A dual setup would definately be for show more than actual function. Even 3-rotor applications are fine w/ single 3-3.5" exhausts. Remember, according to the sales brochure, the FD is a car where the engineers actually looked for ways to shorten the spark-plug wires in the name of weight savings. maybe try a dual tip setup?
