What's this attached to my old car stereo

Hey fellas,

Not quite a rotory topic, as this stereo was pulled outta my daily driver, but I figured someone on here might know what this thing is.

It looks kinda like a transformer (that doesn't make sense given it's a DC device) and it sits in the line carrying switched 12V to the car stereo, to power it when the ignition is switched on. Perhaps it's an inductor of some sort, to limit the current rush into the stereo, or something. Not really sure.

If anyone has any thoughts on what it might be, let us know

Mmm Yep I'm starting to think it's a noise suppressor/isolator thing. Cheers!
