hi there, i have a 1994 touring FD with Bose stero.

so curretly my stock stero is eating SH*T right now, CD not working, Screen not working... the normal stuff.
cassette players still works tho, but really? REALLY? cassette?

so right now im trying to upgrade my stero because i always have a lady friend in my car, the the roaring sound coming out my rotary engine just doesn't cut it for her.

i have already order a 1 DIN Dash from sony.

i wasn't able to find dash kit for our car, and also wire harness and w/e else we need

Because it's a Bose-- you'll end up changing everything speaker wise.

A simpler fix would be to buy a newer Bose unit that will work with the Bose speakers/amps already in the car.

I used one from a later 626, but a number of later Bose units will work -- they are double din so you have to cut out the seperator bar -- But you can use your original speakers/amps (Bose).

Here's a set of aftermarket speaker brackets that replace the bose units if you decide to go that way.

I threw in a Pioneer AVH3300, you have to buy a mounting bracket for it, cut out the separator, and manually connect one wire to the stock system (IIRC the wire in the car is B/G or G/B and will be the only one without a partner wire if you buy a wiring adapter from crutchfield and you would need to connect the B/G wire to the power antenna/amp power wire on the stereo itself.), and you will also need a male-male 6" antenna cable as the cable coming from the antenna is female, and the plug in the stereo is likely female I ended up spending $350 all said and done, and the only reason it was so much was because I didn't want to wait a week for the bracket to be shipped so i bought local. :P.

All the work should take no more than an hour if you are any good with this kind of stuff. If you want pics of my pioneer unit, and the wiring behind send me a PM and ill see what i can do.

 

I used a ordinary wiring harness at the stereo shop for my Bose system. the front two speakers work but the center and rear snake doesnt. I dont really care too much about the sound quality as long as it works.

No mounting equipment needed cause my cd deck was a single din and i just purchased the cupholder at the junkyard.

 

The only think you need is the SEARCH function...

Sticky threads in the audio section are your friend. Cliffnotes: buy all new speakers, headunit, wire and rewire the whole cars audio system.

 

hkguy: call up Frank's in Berkeley, he should have the parts you need, and if you just let him do it, they sound like a legit stereo shop. they play classical music in their shop, not loud rap music XD

someone was selling the stock non bose speaker brackets with speakers today in the for sale section too

 

Is the bose wired up for the two speakers in the rear or would you need to extend your own wires for the rear speakers?

 

There is a way to wire the bose snake speakers, I did it a long time ago. I am pretty sure I did run new wires to the back and spliced into the to them at the connector on the bose amp. I did use a new head unit and never cut the factory harness behind the radio. I wish could remember but that was about 8 years ago and my bose rear speakers were thrown out when I could no longer hear the radio over the engine.
