What hood should I get?

Sup guys. I want to buy a new hood, but don't want to spend $1000. Was thinking more around $700. What do ya think I should get? Anything decent for this price?

I couldn't be happier with my faspac. If I remember correctly when I weighed it, it was 7 or 8lbs lighter than stock. Has bigger vents than the similar looking mazdaspeed and is in your price range. Quality isn't 100%, however I opted to have mine painted rather than go with the carbon fiber look, so any blemishes were hidden.

Once you go into their site do a search for rx7 and it will pop up.....only $552. The rx7store has the same thing, cost $750 and I believe that Nightsport has it for about that same price also.

By the way, I didn't have any clearance problems with the hood or fitment problems. Here is a pic to show what kind of intercooler piping I have so you get an idea what the hood will clear.

anything that does not begin with "r" and end with "eplica".

the nicest hood out there for the FD, IMO, is (was) the Mazdaspeed. but i heard that it has been discontinued.

but the FEED hood looks awesome too...subtle from the front, but really mean and aggressive from the side/top.

and Dan, where the heck were those pictures taken at? It looks like Muni (the city golf course). If I remember correctly I saw a golf bag in the front seat of your car once, so maybe it was Muni...hmm :shrugs:

ErnieT, don't you allready have a R-Magic hood?

I'm stuck between the RE hood (not as busy as Scoot) but prolly too much for you and the new R-Spec Mazdaspeed. I'm sure the new Mazdapseed will be over $1,000 though. I asked RotaryExtreme if they will copy it. They said they would need at least 20 buyers and the original first and they didn't think there was 20 buyers...group buy?

You must have just missed me, I had gone over to the car wash behind my place. Now would be a good time to take some pics. I've been a little busy at work, so I haven't really set up a date to go to the track. I just got done fixing a broken throttle cable and doing a few other odds and ends, she's running good now though. Those pictures were taken at my parents place in Hampstead, they live on #15 tee at Topsail.

Nice pic from the bbq Ernie.
Your car is so badass it makes me want to polish your parts..
One suggestion. If you decide to paint the hood do yourself a favor and get Fiberglass as opposedto Carbon fiber. Mine C/F was painted and the resins leave lots of ripples and lines and you name it. The body shop spent 6 hours prepping it . I spent all day blocksanding it before I even dropped it off. So unless your going with the straight Cf look make suer you just get FG.
I like the Mazdaspeed replica I have. Personally it's my favorite.

R-Spec is tight, but will cost you

You can get the Mazdaspeed R-Spec hood from:

JT-Imports
Don't know if rx7store can special order it.
