What is a good alarm:?
My alarm took a crap on me. What's a good alarm for the FD? Are the paging alarms really that good? or just the basic clifford/viper is good enough?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm actually curious what a good alarm is as well... never really had to bother with alarms before I got my 7 so I don't know my *** from my elbow when it comes to them..
People in England like to steal cars though...
Whats a good one that will let you know (aside from the proximity noise) when your car is being messed with at a distance (say inside a busy restaurant..) Think they are called two-way alarms, or something..

I have this alarm and love it man. Excellent features and great range. My buddy has been dealing with car alarms for past decade and his opinion was this alarm is the nicest he has seen around. He stated the components used are good quality. I picked mine up for about $350 and about another $100 for install. Heres the link..

i've had a Viper 791XV (or VX, i get the letters mixed up) for the past 3 years, and i have had no problems with it. i can check on my car from a good distance away simply by pushing the lock button on the pager. the downside is i couldn't use my turbo timer with it. not a problem, since i have the patience to wait in my car for it to cool down.
also, if you are overly paranoid about losing your car (as i am), you can look into a Lo/Jack theft retrieval unit. I have a viper alarm, lo/jack system, quick release steering wheel hub, and a car cover locked up with 30' of cable locks and 4 master locks intertwined in the rims and control arms. im considering investing in a battery kill switch and a cheetah for passenger seat next, then my security system would be flawless . everyone says im too paranoid, i say you can never be too cautious; even if you do live in a 'good' neighborhood.

I have a ravelco in my car. It doesn't let you know if someone is braking into your car, but it makes it impossible to steal the car. With so many false alarms going off, nobody cares if they hear it anyway.

stay away from anything audiovox, dei makes good alarms circuit city is probably one of the cheapest places to have it dont and installed, a 2 way remote is nice to have you can always check the remote if to see if the car is locked or not or if someone sets your alarm off you know. if you have it installed at ccity labor is lifetime warrantied and so is the alarm so if there is a problem they will fix it.

I used to install the viper alarms and ive had no problems with them and they make 1 model with a LCD screen that tells you what is going on if the door is open or the window is broke. It is the 7 series model.
