What does the factory white wire do for the stereo?

What does the factory white wire do for the stereo?
I bought the wire harness and the speakers still don't come on and I have a white wire left over. On the wire harness package it says hook up the blue and white for amp turn on but I have no blue and white that came with the harness. The front of the package says its for 86 Mazda.
Any ideas??????

you wont. the harness kit for the aftermarket stereo you are installing has a blue/white wire on the back of the stereo plug. it doesnt connect to anything in the stock setup. you should go thru and re route all the speakers in the car, as to eliminate the stock amplifiers. they are on every speaker.
