T2 stereo question
ok i went up to Best Buy to get a dash kit and stereo harness for my FC turbo, i have this old cd player i want to put into it. well, anyways, when i get it the salesman tells me that the 87 Rx-7 has a facory amplified audio sytsem and that my aftermarket radio wouldnt play through the factory speakers. is this true? do i have to rewire my speakers to get music in my T2? if so, how do i go about doing this? i imagine many people on this board have done it before, so how did you guys do it? or was the salesguy full of it and i dont have to do anything to the audio system? inquiring minds want to know......

You have to eliminate the stock amplifiers that are on each speaker. In the rears they are built onto the outside of the black "pods" the speaker is contained in. In the fronts both amps are on the passenger side speaker assembly. You simply cut off the existing harness and patch the wires directly to the speakers.
Or you can go thru and run new wiring entirely.
