I want the shift **** from an RX-8 in my FD. I know of a site that sells them in a 5 speed version (I have the link save @ work... but I'm at home & can't remember the site...), but I am wondering what car the 5 speed shift **** came on, because I thought the RX-8 were all 6 speed (could be wrong). So is there a 5-speed RX8? Or another car that had the RX8 shift ****, but with 5 speeds (even though that wouldn't make sense cuz the **** is rotor shaped). Or is the 5 speed shift **** some specialty item that was modified to only display 5 gears?

I assume there was a non-US RX8 that had a 5-speed tranny that these come off of...

& if anyone has one they want to sell for less than $100 (which is what the site charges), let me know...

I just can't justify spending $100 on a shift ****... so I gotta try to find one used...

 

The only place I found it was new online all the ones on ebay are the six speed us versions.

rx8 - 5 speed , only 17.5k U.S too =)

 

Does anybody know if the automatic transmission ***** will fit our sticks? Is the thread pattern the same? If so, you can get one in more than one color and the **** will just say "RX-8" instead of the 6-speed pattern.

 

Does the 5-speed shift **** have the blue LED-lit shift pattern on top like the 6-speed one?

Would it be possible to buy an LED 6 speed **** and just change the pattern on the top to a 5-speed one with a transparent gear pattern?

The **** had to be put together at some point... so I'd say it is possible... except, after looking at one in person, you would either mess up the leather, or the metal finish in doing so. But feel free to correct me & explain how its done... cuz then I could just buy a 6-speed & convert it.

& Placing a sticker on the top, or putting tape to cover up the '6' does not count.

 

I have a 6 speed **** in my posession, i think i'm goign to try and remove the clear plastic that covers the shift pattern decal and see what i can do, i too would love one of the lighted 5-speed models from europe

 

^^ I couldn't see a way to remove the top without removing the leather... of course, I could have missed something. Let us know what you find. I bet a lot of RX7 owners would be interested to have a 5-speed RX8 shift **** (that doesn't cost $100)

Just bought one too, going for a all black interior mostly, any way to convert the surrounding on that **** from silver to black? hmmmm.....

 

I found one on eBay UK... too bad it ended up selling for $70 USD + another 20 for shipping... I could buy it new for a bit more... I was hoping to pick that up as a bargain... guess I'll keep looking...

gay...i want one. I checked ebay UK and there were 4 or 5 of the 6 speed knobx...no 5-speeds. Nobody answered my question earlier...does anybody know what kind of threads the automatic ***** have?
