I agree with Mazdaspeed, you need to polish it before waxing it. I use Meguire's crystal polish, but that stuff is pretty cheapie I'm sure you can do much better. If you're lazy, the blue zymol wax is a "cleaner wax" and does polish to an extent.

When I put my kit on, I just had the guy wet-sand the whole car isntead of just the bumper and skirt that was put on. After that, I used some 3M hand glaze which gives it A LOT of depth. After that, use some Liquid Glass. I don't know what it has that does it, but it seems to put a hard clear coat over the surface. I recommend Liquid Glass to anyone...one try, and it will make you into a believer

Since your paint isn't new, try clay barring your car first before polishing and waxing to take off all the residue from atmosphere abuse. It gives your car a smooth as a baby's butt feel. It is awesome. Mother's offers a kit and it is worth every penny. If you are unaware of what clay bar is, it is a spray and an actual clay bar that you rub onto your paint that remove everything but the paint. After, rub your hand over the paint and it feel brand new. Then polish it and wax it to give it a good as new look.

Here is a comparison that the NSX club did on waxes. http://nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html

Hi guys,
Instead of making up my own thread I thought I'd bring this one back from the dead.
With clay bars, is it possible to overdo it with a clay bar and end up damaging the paint finish?
And regarding waxing, I used to use all Meguiars (sp?) on my then new 01 Prelude, and I gave my car the full work over. I got instructions from Meguiars omepage and used 3 different bottles after I washed it (paint cleaner, polish, wax). But usually by the time I get around to applying the wax and buffing it off, it leaves a powdery residue on the car.
Now my question is, am I doing the polishing and waxing process wrong? or is this normally wha thappens when using Meguairs products? If anyone has any good links to how to give your car that really glossy and 'wet' look, I would appreciate it.
TIA
