For some reason or another, I found that under my passenger seat felt kind of damp. Almost soaked. I had the car, '93 rx-7, parked at the airport while on a trip. The windows were completely shut, no puddles, and I had the car cover on. I dont imagine I spilt anything, but its strange because nothing else in the interior is wet except for right under the passenger seat. Anyone have an opinion or experience? Could there be a leak of some kind?

 

I don't know what the technical name is, but there is an "arm" attached to the passenger seat and it bolts into the floor. If you roll your passenger seat forward and look behind the seat closest to the transmission tunnel, you will see it. It will be covered by a flap of carpet. Anyone that has ever removed their seats will know what I am talking about. Anyway, lift the flap up and if the bolt is missing, you can see the ground underneath through the floor, and that may be where moisture is getting into your car.

 

Thanks ill be sure to do that. I might be needing new carpet, can I just go to my nearest Mazda Dealership and get everything done?

 

I doubt yours or any Mazda dealership does that kind of work, but they can get you the carpet, and I doubt it will be cheap. Try a local car upholstery shop, you know, one of those places that installs convertible tops and interiors. They can custom cut and install new carpet for you.

 

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the wettness? I'm thinking i might have a pinch in the A/C moisture dump off...please tell me if im anywhere CLOSE to being right...

 

You might be...depends where the wetness is. By the feet? Could be the A/C. Have you been using it a lot? Try drying the floor and going for a drive w/o the airconditioner, feel carpet. drive w/ aircontioner, feel carpet.

 

Well yes it did turn out to be the a/c. The hose letting left over moisture out, slipped out of its place and directed the wettness under the passenger side carpeting...all i needed was a shop vac, towels, and a hair drier...everything is good now...
