Washing engine bay
Hi guys so I recently picked up an fd from almost an original owner who kept it almost bone stock!
i just completed replacing some vacuum lines, broken solenoids etc and the car runs good! Previously it had a hard time starting idling and driving was rough. Tune was way off and super rich. But all said and done it’s better now (at least first start up and drive attempt!)
but the engine bay is pretty filthy! It’s Very dusty And some oil etc. I’d really like to wash it and spray it down... but am afraid I might mess up the car In Doing so.
any recommendations before I attempt this? 😬😁

Soak it all down with some water based "truck wash" detergent. Spray it all off with water.
then get in there with a soft brush and more soapy water.
then, the magic trick, grab a can of tyre shine foam. Foam that bitch up and get in there with some clean rags and wipe it all down.
it will look brand new. All the plastics and rubbers will be black and there will be bright paint where there was just dirt before.
then make sure she starts and take it for a drive to blow any residual water out.
if it doesnt start (assuming it did before) dont worry. Theres just water in a random plug somewhere which should fix itself if you jiggle a few things around or leave it in the sun for a minute.
