want to hook up stereo in 2nd gen but there's a problem
i got a problem, i was gonna hook up a new stereo in my 7, but i remembered that there was a short somewhere in the wiring, so if i hooked the stereo up, it would lose memory everytime i opened any door, or if i turn on any interior light. what i'm asking is, is there a way that i can find the short so i can have my stereo hooked up correctly.
when i open the door, my dash will say that the hatch and the doors are open, this also happens when i try to turn on my interior lights (and the lights don't come on)
I think this problem occurred when i first bought the car, i noticed that when i first took the old stereo out (aftermarket) it was grounded to a screw that i don't think is supposed to be used.
any suggestions will be helpful
thanks

You could run a dedicated power wire from the battery, adding a small fuse couldn't hurt, and create a true ground for the stereo. About the short, im not sure how to track it down.
