Alot of people want this, but you can never get enough people at te same time, who want the same thing. If they were smart, they'd just build 15 without plates, and post some pictures. They'd be sold in about 3-6 months.
I was going to get in on that GB too but didn't have the $$ at the time (Xmas time). Plus it still seemed over priced to me for fiberglass.
They never got the GB discount because everyone backed-out. They were having problems because Pettit wanted to charge $200 for shipping.

I think your idea on just building some and selling them would work perfectly. I bet it would only take 3 months if they were priced right.

This is also a big concern of mine. I'm not real crazy about the RB and Mazdaspeed replicas of the 99spec wing. I would love to get an exact replica of that, more than I would of the front bumper. You can actually find the JDM fronts for under $500, but the rear wing is always at least $1000. They could make a killing if they made a full-99spec conversion kit and priced it under a grand.

BTW, does anyone know if this poly-fiberglass stuff is repairable? because urethane, once broken, can only be covered up, unlike fiberglass, which can be repaired.

Oh yeah, and I want mine without the plate-holder - if anyone cares.

The Mazdaspeed spoiler was not meant to be a 'replica' of the '99 spec wing. The RB wing is, however, a replica of the Mazdaspeed wing.

You guys do know that the OEM 99 bumper comes painted, and you can choose what color you want. There really isn't a reason to make knockoffs of it, especially when the price is going to be so similar.

Please tell me where you can get a new OEM 99spec bumper w/ the rebar for under $500?

^ No kidding. The supposed knock off from VIS it probably won't need a new REBAR or modifying the stock one and at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

JT-imports GB I think was around that...

it really was a great GB as I got my 99 front WITH rebar and the 99 spec wing.

I was in Jason's GB until I had to ask for my money back due to an emergency. I ordered the FULL 99spec kit (side markers, bumper, lights, wing, etc).

It was I think $750 shipped for the lights and skin (both USED). Thats still a helluva price though.

Neofreak- Do you have a link? I wasn't aware Mazdaspeed sold them that cheap. Are they new?

I will but its getting a color change to IBM.....

I plan to head to the shop sometime this week I can try to grab some pics...

Your right though...if they can get this GB reasonable, and with the availablity of those aftermarket turnsignals, this can be much more cost effective.

The reason you need a need '99 rebar (or modify your existing) is because the holes (in the US spec rebar) that allow for clearance of the combo lights are too small or not located exactly in the same place to accomodate the '99 spec combo lights. I'll know exactly what part needs to be cut when I start hacking away later this week.

To allow the '99 combo lights to clear (w/o using a '99 rebar or hacking the original), a 'replica' would have to be significantly different (longer nose, or relocate the combo lights).

Hacking it is really no big deal. Just need a air compressor and a cutting tool. Here is a pic of mine, illustrating what I'm talking about (pre-hack obviously).

I'll post pics to a thread re: '99 bumpers I had posted to before (somewhere in this Exterior forum), along with a writeup as I shave the license plate. More pics to look at while you guys are waiting:

Oh, and neofreak is likely thinking of the '99 (OEM) rear spoilers re: painting. Those are only available prepainted (in '99+ spec colors of course).

if we could even get Jt-imports to get another GB for some oem 99 spec front bumpers and spoilers that would be even better, less down time and they would be a perfect fit. yes those front turn signals are from mako. im going to try to call them tomorrow or tuesday to see what kind of deal they can give me. whats really nice about them is that the connectors will connect with the 93-95 ones instead of buying a conversion kit of busting out the soldering iron.

No problem. In your case (since you want the license plate holder), you might be better off attending a couple of sanctioned events (I think Mazdaspeed accepts drag racing), getting a Mazdaspeed membership and then getting the bumper at a subsidized price. I paid either $350, $365, or $385 (can't remember, been two years - yes, the bumper has been sitting around that long ) + $15 shipping (not a typo) via Fedex Ground. Not sure if the shipping was a mistake (I did confirm shipping costs with them twice, and that's what I was charged), or they just have a 'brother-in-law' arrangement with Fedex.

hmm...i just checked and the price has gone up a little from when you bought it. still a MUCH better deal than any of the vendors though.

does the '95 undertray fit to the '99 bumper? i remember reading about it in another thread and i think that they're different.
