Getting water on your engine is no big deal at all. You have to think, when you wash your car or drive in the rain with a stock hood your engine still gets wet. That doesn't matter at all. But if you are worried about it most of the more reputable vented hood manufacturers do provide inserts when you buy the hood so you can keep the water out. But if you keep them in while driving then you have eliminated the point in buying a vented hood. I would say use them while washing the car, but take them out after that. Just my .02 though.

I just got done driving around today all day with my vented hood and it was pouring (actually was parked outside all night, raining all night) - not a problem. Never had an issue starting or running, everything was fine. I was a little nervous when I was in the tire wash of a semi, and the fine mist was being kicked up, but the car never faltered , bobbled or anything. Opening the hood when I got home, I did not even see any wierd discoloration from water dripping in and evaporating. I did notice a little steam coming up from the turbo area, but I imagine more water got in through the undertray than the vents. All in all, no worries at all

Ahhh, someone with a Stout hood. I was just on the Store's website and took good notice of it, as I had yet to see an RX7 w/one. Looks pretty good, I just wish the vent edges were more rounded...but I really like the intake thing. It's gotta be pretty functional ramming some air down the car's throat

Just as much water will get through from the air dam area as it would through a vented hood. They are designed for air to flow out of them, not into the vents. Except for the front vents on the Scoot and Stout hoods. But still that is going to draw air more than anything else. Just my take on things.

I think you will find most of the openings are not actually above the engine its self. They are usually above the SMIC and the radiator to prevent anything from happening. Hoods like Scoot, and RE I would be careful, getting the alternator and your electronics wet a lot it not good, anyone could say that. If you do think so, take your tv in the shower with you next time and see how many channels you can get threw.

No I was just using this one for a test fit - I don't plan on painting it
I am ordering a carbon one for myself, but it will be several weeks before it comes in. It should give an idea of what it looks like darker anyways
