If I were you, I'd put some projectors in there, what do you mean behind the shield or a housing sourced from a cheap oem unit? I'm confused.. One thing you would have to worry about is the fact that its not in a housing so if a rock hits your lights, you need to replace them.

What I was referring to was using a plastic shield in front of the projectors like the headlamps out there today to protect them. What way if a rock skips up all ou have to do is replace the shield. Also, I am pondering using an already designed headlight system as the backpiece to it initially. This allows for the ease of changing bulbs, etc.

One that I am considering right now as the first test donor is the 05-06 Tiburon's dual projectors.

I need to find a damaged one so that I can check the acutal size but it looks like it could be a good candidate for a starting point from what i have seen.

I will keep everyone posted. I am expecting alot of trial and error on this. The first test will be to get the lights I am going to use and see how much I will have to recess them and get them level.

does anyone know what height the light beam has to be at what distance?

A side note, when you put a shield over the lights it reduces the output of the lights. But hey I rather have protection rather than replace my lights everytime a rock hits it!

yeah, I agree. I would rather save the lights then have as much light as possible.

Just look where we are starting from. Gluing two flashlights to the front would be better.

couldn't have said it better myself... hahaha

BTW, 55w HID might be a good option when you have a cover as people say it has more light intensity than regular 35w HIDs. 55w HID kits are available for about $150~200.

Also, do you think it's possible to enclose the housing completely to allow the use of HID projectors from another car? Lots of good setups out there with reasonable price, both single and bi xenon.

That is definitely going to be a part of the trial and error process. The main issue will be what needs to be done with the metal framing in the car to fit all of this if it is even possible. I think I have a line on a cheap headlight from a Tib to start work on positioning to see if it would fit.

Only certain hid oem projectors will work in the headlight enclosure because there is hardly any room to work with. Tsx would fit, fx35 barely. Valeo's also can fit

I don't know how often you drive your car at night but a good set of halogen projectors actually work pretty well. I don't drive my car often at night so it doesn't bother me too much.
