To those of you with vented hoods
What do you do when it rains? This might be a stupid question but I thought when water hits directly onto metal when it is hot it cracks. I want to get a vented hood to release some of the hot air but I live in florida, raining is a problem.
Rain with a vented hood isnt so much of an issue. Remember, the entire bottom of ur engine bay is open, and water certainly gets up in there when you drive on wet roads. If youre worried about the rain, get a vented hood with rain shields/ducts/guards

I wouldn't think of you as stupid. Just concerned about your engine which is good. Alot of people wonder about this fact but either love the vented hood look or notice engine bay temp. heat being reduced.

blocking trays come with the quality hood but i never put mine in it is in the garage 99.9% of the time but it has rained in there a couple of good times and nothing happens runs fine
If you've got anything under the hood polished at all it is a PITA to get all those water spots off if you let it get rained on, but no real damage if you don't. I wouldn't let the car just sit and get poured on for days on end, but the occasional rain is no problem.
I'm down in subtropical Florida and it'll rain at least once a day during the rainy season. It's heavy, heavy rain too...so far no issues except for the water spots on polished parts and the squeaky tension pulley everyone mentions :-) I "did" daily drive my car in those condiditions (with the Rotaryextreme KS carbon hood). I'd think with something like the Scoot or the AD9 hood there may be some long-term issues with corrosion on electrical contacts, etc...use a good dab of dialectic grease on every connection to solve that issue. Wouldn't want an injector to short out!
like was mentioned other than your polished aluminum getting screwed there should be no downside. i know on the Knighsports hood the ran only falls on the pulleys and a few of the pipes. i wouldnt want cold water dripping on my turbo or anything, but i dont think that is a problem with most hoods.
