It will only stop the thief from driving your car away. If they really want it they will bring a tow truck then they don't even have to open the doors.... It's a good idea if you are worried about really stupid car thieves. That won't protect your stereo or anything...

Pretty much. An FD is too hot of a car for the average guy to steal...it turns heads as it is. He can prob make just as much by gutting it real quick and selling those parts at slightly less than Mazda lol. He'd still make a fortune, and might take your cutoff switch w/ him too

Hey Iggy, you got any larger pics of the Skyline in your avatar?

Anything to make this more difficult on a thief are of "Value" The thing is, though, if someone is determined to take YOUR car, there is little to nothing you can do.

All you can hope to do is make someone pick an easier traget if they're just looking for an easy score....

Scott, while I understand what you're saying, and I feel the same since I always park my FD in plain line of sight from where I'm at, and at home it's ALWAYS garaged, but I'm pretty sure it's possible to pull off breaking into the garage and towing the car away, or maybe even driving it away if I'm tired enough and don't hear it start.

1. when we are home and asleep the alarm system is on with motion sensors in the main hallway.
2. our cars are both parked in front of the garage and every car has a lynx alarm on it.
3. I'm strapped and crazy, not to mention I've been dying to use my Gladiator sword on someone.

lynx 2000 Ramy, come on man... It's remote start, 2 way pager with mile + radius, glass break, motion alarm (if u leave ur windows down etc. it goes off), etc. Not to mention it has an FD on the remote.

the Gladiator sword is crazy... u really have no idea, i would wreck someone in one swing...

I Guess in Jersey you need a sword to wreck someone, In L.A. Some Crack, and a Good ***** will do you in pretty good, allthough I'm not sure if that will stop a thief, depends on what he wanted the cash for in the first place !

In the South (Confederate States) a Doubble Barrel of Rock Salt will do the trick just nicely.

No What I'm saying, is if you leave your FD, anywhere even to go get groceries, in your grocery getter, while the FD stays home, you're left vulnerable... There is no Absolute way to protect your vehicle, other than hiering a guard for it, and then the guard might be crooked, and have his buddies come by and pick it up.... My Point was, yes you can make it very difficult to steal, but you'll never make it impossible, since there are thieves that know as much as You + the Manufacturer, do about Alarms and THEN some.... the key is to make someone else's ride a better target....

sweet... now I know which manuals to download offline so I can cut the right wires quickly...

get the hint?

don't ever tell anybody what you have / have not done to secure your vehicle. you just took away your best defence here and basically just gave any internet trolls, etc, the keys they need to take your cars.

Yes and no. Yes, if you're a doofus and did a "Standard install" placing the main wires and alarm "cpu" (I guess you could say) in the standard/usual/recommended places. You gotta be smart and creative when you install an alarm, doing it in such a way a theif would have a hard time finding where the wires are to cut it in the first place
