Taking the sound mat out??

For any of you that have taken the sound mat out of your car. what i would like to know is what works best?? I was thinking heat gun, with putty knife? thanks for any info

there really is no easy way to take out the sound tar. the easiest way is with dry ice pellets and a chisel. some people have been able to do it if it's real cold out (like 20 or less). but be carfule about messing up the floor plan

yeah its pretty cold here right now, gets down to about mid 20s at night. yeah i figured it was going to be a pain in the butt. what about maybe a torch, and get it real hot? maybe i will just have to try some difrent things tomorrow and let you all know.

the sound mat (tar) is a mat that they stick to the floor to drop the road and car nose from entering the car. its alot like dinomat that you put down to help with your car audio.

I am doing it right now up in MI on my fc. I think being 16 years old the tar is brittle but when it is cold the stuff is shattering. Dry ice is the other alternative. Heat is just messy.
