Swirl removal questions

Hi guys.

New paint (ie maybe 9-10 mos old) but swirl marks as it is a darker color. I don't use a buffer so must have been with the painters

So I have been looking at the various kinds of swirl removers but am a bit uncertain as I thought I saw that you should maybe stay away if it is somewhat new paint??? Ever heard of this?

And anyone have any tips? I know NOT to go in a circular motion but what else?

How hard do I press? I know that it will, in effect, be removing/scratching the clear coat as that is what a polish does but I don't want to really ruin it....

Thanks

www.autopia.org will answer all your questions

chances are you are washing it with abrasive products and drying with products with polyester or are not perfectly clean.

if u are using a buffer, u don't press, you just move it around one section at a time.

Hi there - nope, not using a buffer and have not used cloths with polyester. I had read up on that somewhere before. It really must have been at the paint shop a while back.

So now I am looking at the various products that can applied by hand and trying to see if I can make it so I can see my smile in the finish, lol.

I use the turtlewax Color Guard that has the paint dye mixed in it.

It really works well.

So has anyone gone out and had it "professionally" buffed out? It seems that 2 guys at the local car/hardware shops were really trying to discourage me from attempting anything by myself. Ummm.....am i really going to mess up things by using a mild polish and a cloth by hand? ???
