hiya forum guys,
Pretty much have the perfomance stuff worked out on my car (94 R2). Inspired by Gordon M/ Pure RX7/ Kai's car/black burnout car and a few others I''ve decided it's time to make it pretty. Car is going in at end of month for paint/interior and some mild customization and I was looking for some feedback or experiences some of you may have had (good or bad) on some of my plans/ideas. In no particular order:
-remove antenna and rear parking lens weld holes smooth
-remove all badging and emblems possibly remove and fill rear hatch lock
-99 front end.....oh but what to do with that license plate holder???? 99 rear tailights already on car...possibly tinkering with the idea of fabbing a sheet metal (to match body) middle (eliminating middle light) in between rear tails. Anyone do this yet?
-Auto Power race roll bar (other suggestions welcome) ???bolt in or weld? help! and if I put this in do I need the axiom harness bar or is that uneccessary?
-cover interior plastic (have all brand new still in boxes every piece!) in alcantara (dash, console,headliner, a-pillars and maybe door panels.
-custom design new gauge graphics (simplify)
- I will not have a carpet in the interior. removing all factory sound deadening crap respraying interior possibly installing aluminum floor plate on passenger side.
-re-locate AC and heater controls to lower half of console hidden by OEM flip up door. I do not have a stereo or music system of any kind planned to be installed.
-dual SPA gauges (2): boost/water temp & oil temp/ fuel pressure placed in console where temp dials were.
-harness belts (car is a driver and road/track car NO auto x or dragging)
-polish out curbed rims (RE amimiya) maybe powdercoat centers???
-RE old style rear diffuser
-respray car (currently silverstone) but considering doing something different like a 2 tone pewter and silver combo....bored of the stock colors!!!
-possibly considering steel rear fender flares...burnout or something not sure about hacking up the rear 1/4 panel. Input experiences please on this
-has anyone noticed that FD's are one of the few modern cars with the rear view mirrors attached to the body?? I think it would look better with them attached to the door where the sail panel is. I think the Ganador mirrors do this but I'm not wild about their style any suggestions or pics of alternative mirrors. I like the skinny stalked CF (forget the brand) mirrors style.
-anyone paint the door handles/window trim to match their body color...how would that look?
-replace hatch with spoilerless OEM hatch (already have it)
-OEM alum scuff plates (have those new as well) worried about getting all dinged up. They don't seem to hold up well. Any suggestions?
-tint rear and side windows.
-the ONLY hood I would consider is the Mazda Speed hood but I don't think it can be had anymore.

did I forget anything? tell me what's silly and what works. I will document all progress with pics for your pleasure and my torture. Anyone want to help me tear it down? I'm in the bay area could be fun....
