Question suggesstions on material for custom front undertray?

Ok, here's the deal. I have a custom CF undertray that is secured into the C-west front bumper I have, and it only extends back a few inches. I obviously want to extend it further back, until say, where the oilpan begins.

I tried a CF peice...it broke off. I tried some tough plastic stuff...it became detached (didn't break though), but I took it off. I tried a part from the stock undertray, that didn't last very long. I then tried some plexiglass, and needless to say, it's gone as well.

I'm really getting tired of getting a new extension for the undertray, and I'm running out of ways to secure it (I've tried zipties as well as racing rivets).

So a) what material would you guys suggest I use, that would be both durable and lightweight, as well as very flat & smooth, because not only am I doing this for cooling purposes, but aerodynamics as well, and b) any suggesstions in fastening it?

Thanks

I'm using 16 gauge mild steel for mine (and giving it with a few color coats and clear coats to keep it from rusting)

Did ya pick that up from Home Depot or what? And how are you fastening it to the underbody?

Thanks

I work in a machine shop all day long so I've got consistent access to all sorts of materials. However, you might want to look into getting some from www.mcmaster.com, I can't think of anywhere else off hand that would have better pricing, beyond a scrapeyard (but scrape yards are absolutly wonderful, if there's one around you by all means make a trip to see them).

I used stock bolt holes on the frame and subframe to secure it to the underbody along with the stock bolts that hold on the stock undertray.

I also integrated ducts for my oil coolers and the radiator into it, which I secured with rivets at certain points and TIG welding at others. However, I'm doing 20b swap so its probably WAY more then that 95% of the 7 owners out there are going to need, and to be entirelly honest it is somewhat over engineered.
