Angry stock head unit removal? (FD)

Trying to remove this to put a new one in? It's not the bose system but i thought it would be easier than this...I can't find any screws for it and to get the thing off with the ac/heater ***** and all that looks like i have to remove the panel by steering...

anyone know what all is involved in removing the stock head unit? I don't think it should be this hard.

^ what he said, you need u shaped pins available at any autozone or such, stick it in the sides of the player and pull, its a little tricky and requires some force but it should work. Search and their are many posts about this subject.

I took a coat hanger, cut in half, and bent each into U shape, slid each into the holes on the sides (took a little work) and the unit slide right out!

I have the special tools and still couldnt get it out. I stuck my hand in the tape deck and pulled hard. Turns out the wiring harnesses were zip tied to the fire wall. I actually ripped out the factory antenna plug. The harnesses pulled out of the back of the decks unharmed. New deck installed without issue. GL

I haven't found a cage yet that you couldn't remove a radio from with just a pair of small flat head screw drivers....this info is just incase you lose the keys that come with your radio.
