Stock Bose System in FD

Hey, im sure a lot of you here have put in aftermarket head units in your FDs. Was there any problem having them interface with the amp, e.g. did you need an adapter or any special installation?? And one more question, where is the stock bose amp located?

Thanks a lot!

each speaker has it's own amp.

supposedly, you'll need a small amp (10 watts or so) out of a non-powered head unit to get enough juice to the high-resistance bose amps, but i've heard of people just changing the thing out with no problems (granted, tehy may have had powered head units).

I'm a big fan of ripping the damn bose system out and starting from scratch They sell adapters through crutchfeilds to make an aftermarket unit work with the inline amplifiers but..... Everything on the original system is running @ 1/2 ohm and this is where the problem comes into play..... I think you would save big headaches by investing a few bucks in a whole new stereo... I've heard of people installing an aftermarket 6" in the acoustamas tube if you want to retain the stock look. You will have to get mounting brackets if you want to do rear speakers in the touring... If you can find them they wouldn't be too expensive used. This is why I had my touring for 2 years and didn't dare touch the stereo. I've had my base for 2 months and have already done a full stereo.... go figure
