Stereo Qs

I'm looking at taking out a Pioneer head unit, and rewiring everything for a new one, most likely Alpine or Blaupunkt. My first question is how do I remove this damn head unit? Do I have to tear my dash apart, or what? Second, I'd like to know how I can get my stereo off of my lights. The guy that I bought my FC from attached the head unit to the lights, so it only works when I've got my driving lights (headlights, too) on! What do I have to do to get my new head unit to work off of Accessories and the ignition and all that fun stuff?

Thanks

hmm i dont know much about an FC but it sounds like the car may not have had an original stereo wireharness. you can wire it into the cigarette lighter or to some other light that is always powered. best bet would be to go to somewhere like best buy that installs for free.

Hmmmm ......if you allready have a pionner HU I dont think U have to tear Ur dash apart...........Do u have a dash kit in there? All U need is some Pionner keys.......
1st detach the faceplate if it is
2nd remove the trim ring arround the face plate
3rd stick the "keys " on the sides and ....Pull the head unit out!!!
That Easy unless ur HU is ISO mounted......Do U have any pics?
