stereo installion kits?

I've got an 88 TII, are there any extra parts or kits I'm gonna need to install an aftermarket CD player and speakers?

Thanks, Colby

I personally recommend using the factory brackets from the factory radio and making your own trim ring from some acrylic plastic found at home depot and most plastic stores.

You will also want the metra harness that allows and aftermarket radio to be plugged into the stock wiring as to avoid chopping up the stock plugs.

Or you could go to a stereo shop and buy it. I even think that walmart and radio shack carry these. The kits are a goup of parts to fit a large group oof cars but look fine when installed. I have one for my pioneer.

look at crutchfield
they make kits for just about any car - they come with the appropriate bracket, and more importantly the wiring harness to make the install a snap.

this might be a place to start:

The problem is that the most of these kits (and the ones from crutchfield) is that they mount to the front dash bezel rather than the dash assembly.

If you got the kit direction you ned to make sure that it mounts to the dash assembly and not the radio/climate control bezel. If it mounts to the bezel it will crack and break the dash bezel eventially. It won't happen this week, but it will happen in the next year or so.

And the problem is that the Head Unit\speakers is not FIRM as opposed to the dash assembly, as a *BENEFIT* the CD will skip............a LOT and in the speakers cases it will not be sealed, and will have resonance problems if its not flush tight to the door!

Icemark is right, and it only takes a couple of hours to design, cut, and install a custom HD\EQ\speakers rings.
