stereo install in FD w/Bose

Okay, I have done a search and I can't seem to find the answer to what I am looking for. I have my Alpine deck I want to drop in, I have the Schose adapter, antenna extension, and the little Ford stereo removal tools.. am I missing anything I will need other than the usual tools? Will the stereo mount in without any sort of in dash kit? Where can I get a little pocket to fill in the slot under the stereo?.. I would love to get a Blitz din panel but they are discontinued and I can't seem to come across one. Thanks..

I just installed an alpine the other day in mine, sounds like you have all you need. What kind of antenna extension do you have, I need one with two male ends and I can't find it anywhere, where did you get yours? You could get that saab panel to hold gauges.

I've been reading that on the bose setup there is a problem with the amps and an aftermarket unit blowing the speakers out. Are you doing anything different in regards to that?

Smilez: There is a problem if you just try and splice in the stereo harness with the stock harness. The Schose harness from Crutchfield is expensive, but when I got it I realized exactly why it cost $50. It looks to me like there are almost like little gain controls on the harness for the signal output to each amp, I think it just adjusts the output voltage? Can anyone confirm this? Aside from that I guess one would have to adjust the gain on the actual amp itself, I am curious about this as well though.. I don't want to wire this up and turn the car on only to instantly blow out my speakers. I got the antenna extension from Crutchfield as well.. I think I am just going to order the pocket from Mazda so I have a place to put my TT and Profec.

There won't be a problem because he isn't replaceing the amps that drive the speakers (which are at or near each speaker).

If you wired from the aftermarket headunit - direct to each speeker, bypassing the amp - then you would have some problems.

What if I replace the wiring harness in the car but use the stock wires behind it to wire up to my new harness? It would still go through the amp, so I should be cool, right?

Thanks

For the antenna you really only need one of them. Just leave the other disonnected. I just found a plain old antenna adapter from radio shack.

You don't ahve to goto mazda to get it. Best buy, and circuit city should have them. I got mine from circuit city. If your just gonna use it to hold your TT and profec. I would suggest just getting one of those blank panals and using a dremel tool to make holes for the TT and profec.

The pocket sucks for holding CDs. I used mine for CDs for a while and every tie I would mildly accelerate everything in the pocket would come flying out at me.

you should be able to get the Bose adapter from Best, buy, curcuit city, or any audio shop. I got mine from circuit city for $30.
