so i put an aftermarket cd player in my friends 05 silverado, cause he wanted some bumps, so we went to walmart and got the plastic surround and we were looking for the wiring harness that fits it, all we could find was one for 40 bucks that retained the factory door chime, were like **** that we dont the chime. So we goto the car stereo shop and ask them, they try to say we need this 140 dollar thing that we have to have to make the interior lites and the gauges work, so its the exact same as what they had at walmart for 40 bucks, so we went back and got it at walmart, we hooked everything up last thursday nite, went great, stereo sounded awesome, everything worked great, today he came to work and said it was actin funny this morning....
He gave me a ride home and the interior lights were on the whole time, his power windows didnt work, and the speedo and tach were the only thing working in the dash, the box didnt chime and the stereo and lights didnt turn off when we turned the truck off.....wtfs up? think the box went bad or what? becuase it didnt chime...and everything did work all weekend after we hooked it up....any suggestions?

Since it was working for a short time, it could be some kind of wiring issue.

1.Did you use peoper methods of attaching the wires?
2.You didnt just twist them did you?
3.Have you checked the wiring to make sure nothing came loose, is exposed, or touching metal ?

It may have already caused problems. I wouldnt be surprised if there were some fuses fried already.
