speakers stopped working!
ok, I got my car back from the shop, and the next day my radio turned on and displayed stations, but there was only static. the day after that there was no station displayed and still static. then... nothing at all. thought it was just the factory stereo actin up, but I installed my aftermarket head unit, and the speakers just won't play! I checked the fuses and everything, any ideas on what's wrong?!!??? 87n/a (factory double din stereo w/equalizer)

this could go one of two ways. if you kept the EQ after installing the aftermarket, then it's probably the EQ. If you bypassed it then, there may be indavidual amps, or one amp to drive all speakers. the amp should be integrated into the EQ though. Also, chack your antenna lead. make sure you get continuity through the center lead, to the antenna shaft.

I have no actual antenna, still have the wire, but I shaved the antenna. The stereo (factory) has the eq integrated into it, so that has been removed, are you saying that if the antenna wire isn't attached, I won't get any sound, even when a cd is playing? is there a factory amplifier somewhere that could have gotten disconnected somehow? if so, where should I check?

The amps are at the speakers. If you purchased a wireing harness to use with the radio there should be one factory plug that was not used(white with a single wire I believe). That is the amp turn on. You have to connect the remote wire from the radio to it. That should give you sound.
