Which speakers are better?
it would fit in the fd in the rear hatch on an angle without a problem, its overkill and i hate SPL, ill take a velodyne or seas lotus sub over any spl sub any day of the week. SQ FTW

Not in my hatch, I've still got the drop down cover, so that kinda limits the height of anything back there. But I agree, SQ is better than SPL unless you're going to a competition or something. Purerx7, what HU are you running? I'm currently looking at the Kenwood KDC-X790 but haven't quite made up my mind yet.
well i actually just sold my alpine iva-d310, as i thought it looked tacky sticking out and besides the fact it was easy for theifs to see. So im back to several options:
if i am going to do video, i am going to go with the new alpine iva-w205 (+ h701) thats coming out soon:

Now, if i go single din im going strictly SQ:
alpine f1 status

Pioneer odr

Im really into car audio and my new setup will be very very sq orientated, plan to run,
one of the above headunits
2 sets of polk audio sr speakers (900 each)
Sinfoni or Brax Amplifiers
Velodyne or Seas Lotus Sub
This is going the extreme though and will cost in excess of 3.5k and thats with me doing all the labor.

I can't go double din as I've got gauges in the lower din. As for Alpine's newer HU's, I've heard some bad things. If I was going to drop more than $250, I'd probably go for an Eclipse of some sort, but I think the Kenwood will be fine for now.

I don't doubt that it's good when it works, but I've just heard that they recently have a lot of problems with defective items, even on their high-end stuff. I just picked up an amp from them, so I'm hoping that's not true, but we'll see.
yah their lower end was full of problems, but their new line that came out has turned out to be pretty good and redeemed themselves. Depending on which alpine amp you got, they have a problem with over heating so make sure you give it enough space to cool.
Yeah i could agree with the older alpine stuff not working but the new stuff isnt bad at all i have yet to have somebody come in with bad alpine stuff. I think you could find a better amp than that kenwood though.

I've had good luck with Vifa/Peerless in the past but that's always in the DIY home audio market... haven't dealt with any car audio stuff from them.

4" under the dash for highs worse spot ever for them and sub.... a pair of 6.5" and a inline 250htz highpass for the 4" will make your highs sound way better and the 6.5s can play the mids
