Base what? If you want advice, you gotta spend enough effort to at least type what kind of car you have

most the time its eather the speakers arent getting enough power or got to much, you just need to figure out how loud you want it and then decide what type of speaker/amp/sub you want.....ive blown so many subs just be carfull how much watts you put into a speaker

I have a Kenwood Excelon XC815 H/U with:

Boston Acoustics Pro 6.5's doors
Boston Acoustic Rally 6's rear
Alpine Amp
Vega 8" Sub Tube

The BA's were a Birthday present from my family.
(I had BA 5x7's in the rear and stock in the doors)
The tweeters were mounted separately

Sound is now totally awesome! You can adjust the Subtube from the dash.

I also put a Kenwood V7017 H/U in my 91 Miata with MBQuarts in the doors and I inserted 2 3" Infiniti's in each headrest. Top down @ 85 mph and you can still hear the music!

I had an Explod for about 4 weeks and replaced it with the Kenwood.

The AM band sucked! Couldn't get a ballgame broadcast that I always got with my previous Alpine.

Since the instrument panel is red, I wanted red for the head unit.
The Kenwood XC815 gave me the option of green or red.

Now Kenwood rocks! Liked it so much, got a Kenwood for my Miata.
