hi i bought a sony cdx-mp70 and im trying to hook everything up. ive got it mostly finished, but there are a couple of things im not sure of. from the harness on the cd player there is a orange and white wire, i believe this is the dimmer wire. but on my mazda wiring harness there is a orange/white wire and an orange wire. one is a dimmer wire and one is an illumination wire. which one goes to the orange/white wire on the cd player harnesss? i would think the orange/white wire based off of color. what is the difference between dimmer and illumination?

 

I would say without looking at it / reading voltages... Illumination should be 12v; Dimmer should be 12v pumped through a dimmer cuircuit... I.e Variable between 2v and 11.5/12v

 

thanks for the response. i think i figured it out. i wasn't sure if the unit had a dimmer or not. but i downloaded a manual for it and it does have a dimmer, so i hooked it up correctly. thanks again
