Some reciever questions...
Ok, stupid Mazda did it again.
I have a 1st gen (stock stereo) with the graphic equalizer and the balance ****. Well, the speakers are integrated very well for stock purposes... but I want to replace the stereo, but I want to keep the equalizer, and the wiring that exists already.
So, I guess the question is... is there a wiring kit out there that can adapt perfectly to the gsl? I have those "quick connects" u know, the ones that look like the end of an old mouse port.... i will send picks if need be...
any ideas?

Anytime baby!
This has been discussed before...check it out
You are better off just ripping that whole sucka out, but....
The pinouts are posted there. I was a big proponent of keeping the stock look, but not stock sound. It's a pain in the ***, and pretty much impossible, unless you are content with tapes, and 18 year old sound.
I finally gave up and gave in...
But it sounds sooo good, and once I get my PPI amp and later a sub it will sound so so so good.
Good luck. Hope this helps.
Right on.

I have an 85 Mazda (factory) workshop manual that has the wiring diagrams for the 84/85 Clarion (Mazda) radios, Casstte, and EQ.
If you really wanted to, you could go to Radio Shack and get the correct 6 and 8 Pin DIN cords, wire them appropriately and then just plug and pray, - I mean play.
I could scan the Diagrams in and email them to ya in PDF format if you really want it, as it has the schematics of the pin layout, etc.
I am with Brownmound on this one, and I *was* going to do some kind of splicing in so I could keep the factory radio, and add a CD Player in.
I Also finally gave up, since I am doing a custom stereo surround in Carbon Fiber. I am changing the 2 1/2 din size radio opening to a single DIN size so I can place three gauges under the radio for my Project Kramer.

Cheaper (1/2 price) and lights up 7 different colors to match any car, also plays MP3's.
