Hey David,
How's this for non-commital... DEPENDS.
I wrestled with this very question for the first year I had the hood. Circumstance and well spent HRDs eventually revealed my answer: keep the CF look as part of a coordinated theme. So the CF hood, wing and sideskirts are complimented by the spoiler/splitter and black wheels. (or atleast so I think).
Of course, if you do not expect to add any other uber-rice to your car like I'm so prone to do, then I would probabley paint it from the perspective of uniformity.
BTW, I like to think of mine as "Rotary Sunshine!"

I have the carbon KS hood (on black car) and I had major issues (well, the body shop did) with adhesion. If they scuff the clear too deeply and expose the resin, it'll eventually peel. I've had to clear mine twice now and I've finally given up.

Are you saying that the paint prep is important or that painting the hood is a bad idea in the long term?
David
I like the 3rd pic. It looks a lot cleaner with the FEED spoiler (I hope I got that right...it's been a while since I've looked at FD stuff) unpainted cf section and the painted hood. That hood looks great painted because the black CF hides the cool contours of the vents, and with it unpainted it just makes too much contrast.
