Um...I can't get the shift **** off. How do you get it off? When I turn it, the shifter arm turns as well.

 

vice grips on the shifter arm and other hand on the ****,

and then look into why your shifter arm spins

 

I don't care why it spins. I'm getting rid of that transmission

But, curiosity will make me wonder about it anyway. I'll probably take the transmission apart.

 

You won't have to take the tranny apart... There's a pin at the front of the hole for the shifter that holds the shifter straight... Just remove your boot and unbolt the shifter to expose the hole... Then knock the pin back in place and re-install the shifter... It won't spin anymore...
