I want to put some 6.5" components in the front of my Fd. For those of you who have seperates, where do you mount your tweeters, and your crossovers?

 

A local stereo shop removed the mostly useless dash speaker in my car (which had a torn paper cone on it anyway) and mounted two tweeters in it's place. Pointed at the windshield I was mildly surprised at the improved sound and it looks totally stock.

 

I also thought about doing that. I have dash tweeters set up in my daily beater like that, and the windshield aiming, sounds really good IMO. The only problem with that though, is that I plan to use a gauge pod in that spot.

 

you can put them on the sails, or on the door panel or mold them into the dash. Their are a couple of threads with pictures of locations. Personally, mine will be flush with the door panel, to be on axis they need to be aimed at the opposing seat, so driver side door panel tweeter needs to aim at the passenger. You can always place them off axis too but the response will be better on axis.

 

DamonB mounted his in the hard triangular pieces at the front of the window openings. Looks good and that is a good location for on-axis and imaging.
