Scoops

Alright I got an '84 SE and I'm contemplating making a small 2"X8" vent in my hood and I would fiberglass and rubber insulate a box on the underside of the hood to line up with my square air filter. My question is there a way to deflect rainwater out of vents/scoops. This is my daily driver and I was just thinking.....

Im going to be doing the same thing, right now I have no suggestions except buying a hood already made might be the best option or look at someones hood and duplicate the design.

I guess to deflect the water away from the now external air intake you'd turn the headlights on since the intake is right behind them...

Maybe a drain hole, but I can't quite figure it out where and how. I wonder how the old school cars used to have it?

Maybe you can do like the 'Cuda and have a one that opens and closes...

I think you're talking the Chevelle SS 454, Cudas have a shaker design (now see if you could do that with a rx7) The SS had a vaccume opporated hatch at the base of the windshield, they were trying to take advantage of the high pressure area at the coweling.

Sorry for stealing.

couldn't a person use a sponge type materal at the opening to soak up the water? hey it'd be a poor mans water to air intercooler
