Mike,
Ah, yes, I just have to chime in again and say that Mike is the man for telling me the part number to get my speakers working again after taking out the Bose deck, thanks again man. Apparently the part is backorded, so it will be a week or two before I get the part, when I do, I'll mount everything up and post some pics .

first gen?

Does the Saab gage holder fit a first gen, with a single DIN stereo and a 1/2 DIN pocket?

Right on-

The DIN panel should fit any single DIN opening (as it's a fairly standard size) regardless of what car.

Ahhh,
Finally got the gauges mounted up right with the SAAB panel. I was waiting on a tiny obscure part for the radio and didn't want to mount them until that came in to save me the trouble of removing everything again to get to the radio. I made a little writeup on my website:

http://www.geocities.com/nathan356/mycargauges.html

This is THE way to go if you want 3 52mm gauges in the DIN slot. With just a little trimming here and there with a file, the fit was PERFECT and VERY secure, the clips engaged perfectly. Good stuff.

Good **** man. I'm still waaaaay behind on this project due to some delays with my column mount boost gauge (well, not the gauge, but whatever). I will be going with Defi gauges in the DIN panel when I get it, so my question is:

How far out do the bezels of those VDO gauges stick? The bezel for the Defi gauges is like .25", which seems like a lot. I'm going to think about trying to recess this a bit if it seems like too much.

Although not visible in that photo, the SAAB panel actually sets the guages quite far back behind the radio, so a thick bezel would be no problem at all. I'd say the panel is 3/8" back behind the radio, and the bezels on the VDO gauges are 3/16".

Nathan, that looks sweet, thanks for the pics and write up. I wouldn't mind putting one in my car for water temp, fuel pressure and intake temp gauges. I've already got a boost/vacuum and air/fuel ratio gauges in an A-pillar pod.

As you can see in the pic of my 2nd gen's interior, my stereo has an odd setup. Below it is the useless space (I guess meant for holding paper or something, it doesn't even fit a pair of sunglasses) that looks to be about a 1/2 din height, and then there's a filler panel above the stereo that I think is less then a din as well. Has anyone tried mounting the Saab panel in their second gen? Pics?

My bet is that if you moved your stereo up to the top there you'd have room (looks like around a DIN height) for the SAAB gauge panel. Maybe not...I don't have a 2nd gen. Worth breaking out the tape measure to tell though

Doing this next week. I'm going to have autometer water temp, exhaust temp and oil temp mounted under my radio. Then I might get fuel pressue and oil pressurea and get that swell mount that uses the center channel speaker location.

You can also try the Omori 3-gauge single din panel.

I just ordered an Omori P-105 panel kit. If I don't like how this thing looks, I'll be putting it up for sale.
