It's quite possible that Mazda changed the seat rails again with the RX-8. The FD and FC seat rails are VERY different, but the FC and FB/SA actually share identical seal rails.
The seats aren't super wide, and would quite likely fit. You'd probably want to do something about the side air bag, though - like remove it or something
. Actually mounting the seats to the floor of the FD would probably be a chore if the rails were substantially different. I've fabbed up seat rails for aftermarket seats before, and it's far from fun. Especially when you consider that failure of the seat rail could lead to injury or death.
