Rx8 Seats in 3rd Gen?

I've been looking to replace my stock tan's but I was looking at the Rx8 seats and they look really comfortable and I've seen some for sale for close to 300 for both. Any seen any fd's with them? think i'll have to mod the seat rack? thanks!

Apparently they can be made to fit if you modify the racks.

Check these links:

Re-do the stockies. They're comfy, safe and fit perfectly.

i have them in mine, i prefer them more than my base but like them less then the leathers lol.

if you have some1 do them for you i can become quite pricy since they would have to hack alot of the clutter near the rails and make a custom bracket for the oem rails.

there is also a site online where they build custom rails for your specific project. a quick google search should help you.

heres a teaser pic

I don't wanna be a downer or anything, but I'm gonna throw this out there anyway.
A really well loved member of this forum (Dave, the guy from the 2nd link that Ceylon posted) wrecked his RX-8-seated FD and died.
I'm not trying to say that the RX-8 seats broke or contributed to the severity of the accident in any way. I just think the stock seats are mounted perfectly, fit well, look great, and won't break or come off the mounts etc. if you get into a serious wreck.

The do look great though, and I was seriously thinking about putting a set into my FD. After Daves accident, I decided to find a set of clean tan FD seats...and I'm stoked I did.

dave was a dear friend of mine, and he is the main reason why i went with rx-8 seats in my fd.

but the way he did his setup was more of a mockup... he never really got to install them correctly(he only had driver side) he basically got a 1/4 inch steel bar and drilled 2 holes(1 for the rx8 rail and the other for the FD chassis point) and i can guaranty that the seat broke on impact.?(miss you dave ) he even knew it. he mentioned how easily the mounting points of the rx8 can be bent with a rubber mallet.

ill post pics later of my setup
