Question RX7 Owners...what is the all around best shift **** you've used

I have the expensive leather mazdaspeed shift **** (looks like a stock 3rd gen shift ****) and it's pretty nice, but just too bulky..i guess. Before that i've had many different ones, including the popular Greddy aluminum one, and misc. metal ones. I'm looking to get yet another one. My friend has a MOMO Combat **** on his FD and I really like the feel of it, I'm thinking of getting one now just from the feel of it. Anybody have any recomendations?

Actually, I have the same **** you do. I really like it now that I got used to the feel. You're right... It is bulky. The RX8 **** is really nice (Expensive though)

The stock **** was pretty good, since it was the heaviest **** that I had.

Right now I use a Razo **** for my shortshifter, and I like that. Aluminum though, so it's pretty cold during the winter and hot during the summer.

Voodoo shift *****

These are incredibly popular amongst miata owners and they are really great, excellent feel to them in your palm.

Reducing height is good, but a really light shifter just feels weird, it's gotta have a little weight to it. I had a Momo Cobra that I really liked. I sawed about 1 inch off the shifter (the threaded bolt part), so it was a bit shorter shorter. I also really liked the ergonomic feel.

I'd get the same one again, but leather instead of fake CF.

sorry about all of the other threads, their is somthing wrong with my account. My first gear shift **** was the Sparco Tecno, I give it a 3/10 because it was to small and I found it slipping on upshifts from 2-3 and 4-5.
My second gear shift **** was the Sparco Bio-Chrome, I give it a 6/10, it was very good but I didnt like the shape of it and it didnt feel right while shifting, the gearshift **** I am currently using is a Sparco Globe-X I give it a 10/10 because it feels good while shifting, looks good, and doesnt slip! You can find pics of all of these gear shifts at www.sparcousa.com

Dang, how are you shifting? I used a Sparco Techno for 2 years and never had a problem shifting. It wouldn't work on my short shifter so I switched to the Razo CF Weighted Shift ****.

BTW, as far as the height, I used to think lower was better. However, after riding in an FD on a track (road race, not that drag crap) and watching someone using a short shifter with a taller **** (like the Momo Cobra above)... I've almost changed my mind. He didn't have to reach as far to shift on the road course and it made a pretty good difference.

My mechanic just put in a Hurst T handle,at an angle. He locked it in with a sleeve that makes the stem look thick and is long enough to keep the boot in place . It sounds strange to talk about but it looks good and works better .The T handle was redrilled to set at a 45 degree angle instead of flat .I think Rotorbrain has pictures . He and others said , no way ,untill they saw it installed .
