People with wishful thinking will claim it does but it does not. Without a smooth underbody to feed the diffusor it's not going to accomplish anything but sitting there and looking pretty. The air will be so turbulent from passing over the stock underside of the car by the time it reaches that short diffusor it won't be useful.

i recently got one, and installed it myself, i mounted it on the lowest setting on the brackets, so it would scoop more air, and i can genuinely feel a difference, stability wise. this may have to do with smoothing it out with the big venturi tunnel but i have no clue.

from the angle i have it mounted it looks like it would add downforce, but damon does know his **** and i would listen to him over me

i could swear i noticed a difference tho, just my .02

oh and also i dont have a stock rear spoiler...dunno if that makes a diff cuz maybe my car was lacking in the DF department already

clearance issues arent so much of a problem with me, but i did set my ground control kit an inch higher before i put it on, =P

Truth be said Chucks carbon diffusers are made thicker/stronger than my RE one.

It could quite easily make the car feel more stable because it's adding drag at the rear of the car behind the CG like the feathers on an arrow do. It's entirely possible there IS increased stability but that doesn't equal downforce or traction.

The stock rear spoiler makes zero downforce, it's for show only (and adds a drag penalty). I have a book that uses the '93 base and R1 as an example and lists the drag and lift data for the front and rear with the base lip and no spoiler as well as the R1 lip and the spoiler. The data says keep the deeper R1 lip but dump the stock spoiler. The stock rear spoiler does nothing but add drag to the car.

Yeah it's funny how many think I've copied others cars and it is actually far from it. This car was being painted orange before the SP car back in the day. Pics never do the color justic but I understand to each his own
