Rotary Extreme HID Sleek Lights Owners

I have a RE sleek lights with HID, and I find the lights to be too dim compared to other cars. The beam pattern is good and all... but I just find it weird that it's just not bright considering it's HID and all. So I was wondering if there's something wrong with my lights or are they just not bright? If the latter is the case, I'm thinking about retrofitting Bosch HID projectors instead of the hella ones. It looks like it would be a piece of cake to make the projector fit, and the wiring shouldn't be difficult at all.

the hella is a well designed lamp and uses the standard capsule so i dont think the bosch will be any better unless you go to a 55w.

I see. I just can't find the reason why the light intensity is lacking severely... the lense is not dirty... perhaps the ballasts aren't getting sufficient power? What could be a possible cause?

If you're talking about Hella HIDs which comes with RE HID light kit, it should be the same one I have. I just don't see the reason why mine is not bright at all... anyone got any ideas?

I'll have to take a look but actually the bulbs seem mismatched. If I had to guess, the passenger side seems to be 5000k(very slightly blue) and the driver's side looks like 4300k(pure white).

4300k is the standard for all oem projectors. The hella 90mm are old and outdated. Try and put some tsx projectors in there. Much better lighting

The bulb for the Hella 90mm HID is a D2S bulb, ~$120 each. I have the same kit and the light quality is also nearly too bright. Next year I might upgrade to the Xenon setup.

Ok. I just took them apart yesterday, and to my surprise, I found that the lowbeam projectors aren't the HID ones but H9 ones with D2S bulbs glued in place... no wonder why the light ouput was so dim. I was pretty pissed to see the ghetto HID conversion job. I would prefer just regular halogen bulb setup over this one... ARRGGHHH.

I looked at TSX projectors and it doesn't seem like there is enough room for them to fit unless I change the highbeams to a smaller unit. E46 projectors look like they will fit, but I don't know what I can do to enclose them since they will be exposed to dirt and moisture by RE lights' design.

Looks like I've got some thinking to do.

Tsx should fit, so will fx35 and e46. Or you could be a baller and put in s2000's in there

I don't know... I took some measurements while I had the unit out of the car and the space is pretty tight for TSX projectors. Looks like I'm going to go with E46. Any ideas on how to protect them?

I'll most likely pick these up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOSCH...spagenameZWDVW

What do you guys think?

I have chuck's setup as well, the light output is tricky, because you'll be hitting the bottom of the projector housing if not properly installed. Also the H3 housings and the HID 90mm were the same from hella, when I looked at them. And the price difference was $600 between them, so JB weld was much cheaper. Now that the projectors have gone down, I was thinking of getting a set, and ripping the old setup out, but the bulbs are still fine, so not anytime soon. You might want to take some pictures in a garage and we could try and see what your issues are. Because once properly installed I have yet to see the stock setup outperform this one. The only thing I dislike is the dust buildup on the fiberglass housing.

Yeah. I think mine is not installed correctly. A lot of the light output is getting cut off by the housing and the front bumper. I guess what I can do is move them back further and try to make them sit higher?

A little off topic ,but I have the RE halogen sleek light kit and am looking to convert to hid. Currently the low beam projector has h9 bulbs, but the projector housing says h9/d2s. Should I be shopping for a d2s or an h9 hid kit for this?
