I am a big fan of the 3rd generation Mazda RX7. After much debate, my fiancé and I have decided that the project car we want to build as a show car will be the 3rd gen RX7. Its fast, its fairly rare, and its stylish. Yeah, I know, some of you are saying: its no show car, the RX7 is a race car! Well, my fiancé doesn't want me street racing, but I love cars, and she enjoys the show atmosphere, so building a sports car with a real race car look (instead of that ricer crap) is a good common ground for her and I. We want to do it right and build a car that will borderline on being a trailer queen. I have a daily driver already (2003 Chevy Avalanche 4x4 Northface Edition w/ TV/DVD/Navigation/PS2/Xbox) that will double as a tow pig for this proposed trailer queen project.

That brings me to this question: Our favorite body kit, hands down, is the RE Amemiya 2002 GT Widebody kit. I noticed on the Rotary Extreme web site that they are selling their replica of the RE Amemiya 2002 GT Widebody kit, the Rotary Extreme 2002 GT Widebody, for $3000 in fiberglass. Its regularly priced at $4500, and if you buy a RE Amemiya original, you can plan to spend at least $7500 for the kit.

What does everyone know about Rotary Extreme? Sometimes replica kits have fitment problems. What is the quality like on the Rotary Extreme replica kits? At the $3000 price tag, I'm very tempted to purchase the Rotary Extreme 2002 GT Widebody kit now while its still available at such a steal of a price. I would love to hear everyone's input on Rotary Extreme products. Thanks.

Keep in mind that this project is for a trailer queen to win car shows, so good fitment of the widebody kit is crucial. If the Rotary Extreme product doesn’t fit the bill, I have no problems with spending the extra money to go the RE Amemiya way instead.

In my opinion if your builing a show car.....use original parts. you wana win the judges over, let them know thats its authentic! Every joe blow can ge the fakies. The real thing will win you points....

That is a very valid point.

Of course, where I live in the southeastern United States, the car show judges crap their pants every time any widebody conversion vehicle shows up at a car show. The biggest shows we have within driving distance of where I live would probably be NOPI SE Nationals in Pigeon Forge, TN, NOPI Nationals in Atlanta, GA, and Hot Import Nights when it comes to Houston, TX.

Anybody know anything about the quality of the Rotary Extreme 2002 GT Widebody kit or their other kits?

I have never heard of any fitment problems with his kits, only satisfied customers. The Scoot CF hood he makes fits better then the original. Chuck definatly takes his time when making these kits, and is very helpful. Hands down one of the best companies to do business with. Good luck with your car, Rotary Extreme is a good choice, and I he can also get you the original if you so desire.

Everyone speaks so highly of Rotary Extreme, that it seems like a dream come true. True RE Amemiya is 7500 for the kit. The Rotary Extreme kit is only 4500, but he's got them on sale right now for only 3000. That's dirt cheap for what you're getting.

I wonder why he's selling the fiberglass Rotary Extreme 2002 GT Widebody kit for 3000 now instead of 4500. His website says that he's selling them below cost, which makes me wonder: when these fiberglass ones are gone, does he even intend to make more?

My car is all Rotary Extreme body work, if the originals fit any better, well they're the best damn fiberglass work ever. Cuz Chuck's parts fit AMAZINGLY, I was leary to drill the pre marked holes before fitment, but after i fitted everything up I found that the holes are all just where they belong and a few minor tweaks and everything looked like it was made that way from the factory. Consider me a satisfied customer. Even my body man who hates fiberglass bodywork in general from working with so many cheap WW/Erebuni type knock offs was impressed.

There are more options for racing other than street racing. If you're going to destroy an RX-7 just to impress some kids at a car show, atleast take one that has been damaged since you'll be replacing most of it and not racing it.

There's already a couple show car's in the US with the RE Amemiya widebody kit, in fact there was an orange one at SEMA. If you really want to be original and don't mind spending the dough(doesn't seem like you to be honest) get the Border wide body kit and be different or perhaps have one custom made.

Id say the reason he is selling them below cost is to clean up inventory and get ready for other projects, also the kit isnt as popular as people orginally thought it would be. chucks work is top notch and he is hands down one of the nicest vendors Ive dealt with, great pricing, honest, and willing to help.

The widebody setup on the dark blue Feast-Power.com FD3S is pretty clean. It’s a mix of components from RE, C-West, and some in-house Feast-Power originals. Overall, though, I love the look of the RE Amemiya 2002 GT Widebody kit, especially on a silver FD. Yeah, so its going to be a show car .. I’m finished with racing and tearing stuff up .. already been there, done that with some of my previous cars: ’99 Corvette, ’00 S2000, ’95 Civic w/ motorswap. Ready to build something that just looks different. Especially where I live (Memphis, TN), where you never see any widebody conversions on the local imports.

There are less than 5 people with the kit combined with original and mine in the US. The organge one at Sema is the same one you see in the magazine. I have finished the kit for almost a year and so far I only sold 3 sets. So far only that orange one and the car on my website are finished. There is one in NY which is almost finished. There is one in Texas which hasn't even started.

I need to get rid of the ones I have in stock in order to recruit some of my investment. I have spent $6500 on the original kit and then another $10,000 to make the molds. I need to sell at least 10 sets at $4500 original price to get my money back. But right now I don't think I will ever get my money back so I just want to sell them below cost and get some of my money back. Something is still better than nothing.

Anyway, if you want to win car shows, this will be the kit for you and not too many people have it. If you want to go with c west, mazdaspeed, feed, etc, tons of people have those already. $3000 is really a bargain and I need to get rid of those fast. BTW, if you want the Border one, I can import it for you. But if you want to win car shows, you need something that's more aggresive. The Border one is too mild and it looks stock. Another good one will be the R Magic.
